Probe Installation
The probe generates ultrasonic pulse wave and detection echo at the same time, and the ultrasonic pulse wave propagates from the surface of the probe with a certain cone wave surface. In this area, there should be no obstruction and away from the entrance. The installation position of the probe should be chosen where there are no obstacles between the emitting surface of the probe and the measured medium.
Consider the shape of the container when installing the probe. If the probe is not installed correctly, a container with a certain shape will produce secondary echoes. This type of problem is mainly concentrated in the cone and the top of the spherical tank. This special shape can refocus and amplify the emitted echo to produce false readings. Choosing the correct installation location can solve this problem.
The probe can be installed with a flange or a standard G1 1/2 thread (the installation interface is subject to the actual object). Whether it is flange mounting or threaded mounting, or with or without a cone, make sure that the bottom of the probe protrudes from the bottom of the process interface.
In the measurement of solid materials, the probe needs to be typically installed at the distance from the side wall 1/3 of the container wall to the center inlet. When the material piles up, it will form a cone. The probe installation position will give a reading of the average level, which is the level of the material when the material is flat. This is correct for conical accumulation or concave accumulation surface during discharge.
The average level measured by this installation is only correct for cylindrical containers and the inlet is at the center line of the container. For containers of other shapes or where the inlet is not placed in the middle, the installation of the probe should be in accordance with the user's requirements and should meet the aforementioned requirements.
For liquids with a calm surface and no waves, ultrasonic measurement will achieve the best results. If there are debris, bubbles or large fluctuations on the liquid surface, a still wave tube should be installed. The diameter of stilling wave tube should be greater than 120mm, and there is no joint.
